Alumni Spotlight

Nidia Cardenas earned an A.S. in Nursing at Broward College. She then continued her education at South University, where she earned a Bachelor in Nursing, a Master in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner, and is currently working towards her Doctor in Nurse Practice. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner at CareFirst Urgent Care. For the past two years, Nidia has worked in mental health, caring for patients with substance abuse and numerous mental health issues. She started her nursing career in Medical/Surgical and Cardiac Stepdown units and worked as a nurse case manager and onsite nurse reviewer for insurance companies. Her passion for helping others led her to return to school and become a Family Nurse Practitioner.
