Broward College Health Sciences Simulation Center

Thanks to a transformational gift from the Elisabeth DeLuca Foundation, Futuro Health has invited Broward College to be their educational partner in providing technical education to local high school students who desire a career in healthcare, but lack the resources.

Futuro Health is a non-profit committed to expanding our workforce in the areas of allied and behavioral health.  The DeLuca gift will provide tuition free training to more than a thousand local students to help address urgent healthcare needs.

The partnership is an extension of Broward College’s Pledge2Success initiative, which provides free tuition for a two-year degree across it’s seven academic pathways, which includes nursing and the health sciences.

“Broward College’s commitment to workforce development runs deep and it will remain a major focus for the institution” said Jim DeChant, Acting Vice President for Advancement and Executive Director of the Broward College Foundation. “We are thrilled to have Futuro Health as a partner to expand our reach and provide these opportunities to more deserving students. It’s truly a win-win for all of us”, he concluded.

Gathered in the auditorium within the Health Sciences Simulation Center were Rachel Adomat from the Elisabeth DeLuca Foundation, Loreen Chant, CEO, Broward Health Foundation as well as industry partners from Med Pro Staffing, Broward Health Memorial Healthcare System and Holy Cross Hospital.  For more than four decades, Broward College has been a pipeline for talent for healthcare providers.

To help recruit students for the opportunity provided by Futuro Health and Broward College’s Pledge2Success scholarship, non-profit leaders whose organizations provide wholistic support for economically challenged students were also present, including HANDY, Boys and Girls Clubs and PACE Center for Girls.  All have an impressive track record in seeing their students excel in college and in their careers.
