Shabana Ali, A.A. '18

Shabana Ali earned an A.A. degree at Broward College and is now pursuing a B.A. in Psychology at Florida International University. She currently has an internship as a Project Manager & Research Assistant at Florida International University. She started working in the Legal Psychology Lab as a Research Assistant before she became a Project Manager. Shabana has previous experience working in hospitals, offices, and schools where structure and collaboration with professional workers were utilized and enforced.

Charmaine Anthony earned an A.A.S. with a focus in Nursing at BC. She then earned a B.S. in Registered Nursing at Florida International University, and a M.S. in Nursing at the University of Phoenix. She is the Director, Medical Science Liaison, Benign Hematology and Sickle Cell Disease at Novartis Oncology. Charmaine started off at Novartis as a Hematology Educator and worked her way through being a Medical Science Liaison, a Regional Medical Scientific Liaison Associate Director, and finally to her current position. She has a long history of working in the pharmaceuticals industry and is skilled Clinical Research, Nursing Education, Pediatrics, Patient Education, and Medicine.

Alexis Arenal

Veterinarian

Alexis earned her A.A from BC, her bachelor's from Florida International University and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University. She currently works as a Veterinarian at Seiler Animal Hospital. She has been working with animals for a very long time, previously working and interning closely with FIU Research Programs and Dixie Animal Hospital. She also has worked as a Conservation and Research Intern at Miami Zoo, where she Assisted with projects that aimed to preserve endangered species both globally and locally. She has been helping her community by volunteering to help assist veterinarian technicians and Zookeeper’s whenever she has the free time.

Tysharra Belfon, FNP-BC

Tysharra Belfon earned an AS at BC and continued her education at Chamberlin University where she earned a BSN and a MS in Family Practice Nurse/Nursing. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner & CEO at Belfon Health & Aesthetics as well as a PICC Line Nurse at Specialty Care. Belfon & Aesthetics is a wellness center that provides supplements, IV hydration, weight loss, and other services! Tysharra has an extensive medical history treating and caring for patients with acute and chronic diseases as well as preventative and aesthetic services. She has over 8 years of nursing experience and is passionate, adaptable, and hardworking.

Subash Bhandari

Subash Bhandari earned his A.A. in Pre-Medicine at BC and his bachelor’s and master's degree at Florida Atlantic University. He is currently a student at FAU receiving his PhD in neurosciences. He is currently working as a NeuroBiology Research Assistant at Florida Atlantic University.

Dr. Glenna Brewster earned her A.S. degree from BC, she then earned her B.S., M.A., M.S., and PhD from University of South Florida, and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. She shares, "The opportunities I received at BC by being a tutor at the LRC at North Campus and participating in the Omega Phi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa strengthened my ability to communicate effectively and showed me what was possible in terms of what I could accomplish."

Gracey Butts earned her A.S. at BC and has a B.S. in Athletic Training from East Stroudsburg University. She is now continuing her education by earning her B.S.N. from The University of Arizona. She is a Progressive Care Nurse at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus. Here she specializes in Medical Surgery, Telemetry, and CCU. She delivers nursing practices, medication administration, patient and family centered education and more. Gracey was recently nominated for a Safety Hero Award for a medication error that is changing the way we dispense insulin.

Nidia Cardenas earned an A.S. in Nursing at Broward College. She then continued her education at South University, where she earned a Bachelor in Nursing, a Master in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner, and is currently working towards her Doctor in Nurse Practice. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner at CareFirst Urgent Care. For the past two years, Nidia has worked in mental health, caring for patients with substance abuse and numerous mental health issues. She started her nursing career in Medical/Surgical and Cardiac Stepdown units and worked as a nurse case manager and onsite nurse reviewer for insurance companies. Her passion for helping others led her to return to school and become a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Maritza Castaño, RN
