Private gifts are the lifeblood of Broward College. Every day, we see the impact of these gifts on our community. We see it in the student who said “that scholarship allowed me to pursue my dream.” We see it in the residents of our community, thankful for the law enforcement officer, firefighter or paramedic that responded to their 911 call. We see it in the patient, grateful for the care provided by a nurse and we see it in the impact to our community’s bottom line. Read our stories and you’ll see it, too. 

 

She Beat the Odds

Cara Malave lives in a multi-generational household in a low-to moderate income neighborhood.

Many of her high school classmates dropped out of school, got pregnant, became addicted to drugs or died. Several family members became seriously ill and she worked three jobs to help support her family. The money she had earned disqualified her for state assistance. READ MORE
